Summer Breeze

As I lay awake at 1 A.M. (By the way, I never went to sleep) I’m contemplating my return to blogging about music, mainly because I’m listening to music and watching music videos. At the moment, I have my hands in too many projects and I am working on a lot of things, but Alternative music is something that makes me feel and truly energizes me. Energizes me so much, I lay awake forming blog posts and structures in my mind yet not writing them because I need sleep. So, I decided to write this blog post to try and get some sleep and because I’m looking forward to this summer and concerts.

Living in Harrisburg Pennsylvania and now walking about a mile to work, I am fed up with the cold. Luckily two of my favorite artists decided to release some summer vibes to warm me up as I trudge through the snow on my walk home.

In order of which song I heard first (no favoritism here!):

Grizfolk – Endless Summer

What a gem. Truly I tell you, this came on my new music discovery March 23rd as I looked out my office windows at snow flurries and thought, “Not much longer.” They know we are all struggling through winter together (be quiet Florida, we pity you guys during the hurricanes!). Their message is not just about happiness and summertime, but hope. Just as we have hard times in life and cold winters, we have hope. Summer always returns and in a sense the summer is endless. The sun never sets on summer because we have that hope of its return. It reminds me of a few lines in Let Her Go by Passenger:

“Well you only need the light when it’s burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home”

For a coffee house vibe and a more “raw” feeling, I recommend listening to their live performance of Endless Summer. I need to see these guys live!

But someone I have seen live is also trying to warm my spirits.

George Ezra – Shotgun

I can 100% say George Ezra is a breath of fresh air as an entertainer. You feel like you are sitting down at park sipping on beer and talking about old stories with him as he performs. He’ll tell you about the inspiration behind a song and joke around then slip into song and entertain you (especially when he tries to sing the female backup singers high parts). This song is no exception. It is simple and melodic. With a tale of a road trip to the mountains, the beach and anywhere under the sun. Of course, he is riding shotgun. That way he can control the music.

If you need me for another blog post, “I’ll be riding shotgun underneath the hot sun feeling like a someone,” as this, “endless summer is coming home.”

I’ll try to be back soon I swear. Love you guys that read up on artists. Give a like, share, follow or nothing. I keep my day job and simply love sharing this with you guys. (Higher quality and more thoroughly researched articles to come)
